Addiction Treatment

What is Addiction?

Addiction is a complex brain disease that is much more than drug use. While drug use itself causes many difficulties it is really only a smyptom/manifestation of a much deeper underlying problem. Addiction is the obsessive thoughts (constantly thinking of using or ways to get more drugs) that results in compulsive behavior (unable to stop using despite destructive results to them and others) that leads to a self-centered/self obsessed external perception that focues on others, causing most people to deny they have a problem or not beleiving that their self-destructive behaviors are creating difficulties and pain in their lives and others (denial). The effects on the addict and family are physicaly, emotionaly, mentaly and spiritualy devastating.

Addiction manifests in many other areas besides the use of alcohol or other drugs, such as gambling, sex, video gaming, internet, pornography, food and people (co-dependency). If you think you or a loved one has a problem, chances are there is a problem.  I am an expert at assisting those suffering with addiction in identifying what the problem is, finding a solution, and getting into action. As the saying goes, "This is not a dress rehersal." If you want to give your one life a second chance, then call today and learn how you can live life fully and experience the joy and happiness that you deserve.

Inpidual therapy is the least intrusive level of care for those with addiction issues. It allows for continuation of your job and life responsibilities so that you and I can work together in your natural environment. This requires that you remain abstinent and have a strong commitment to recovery. If your addiction has progressed to the point you need medically managed detoxification, then I will provide a referral so you can detox in a safe environment. Once you are safely off drugs, you may begin treatment. Since most people in recovery need additional support, a commitment to attend twelve-step support groups is strongly encouraged along with inpidual therapy. If you also have to attend in-patient treatment by your referral source, then I will work with them to ensure your treatment meets their requirements.

The key to successful treatment is filling the void left by drugs, gambling, co-dependency etc... with a healthy focus on the recovery process. This is an inner journey that will allow you to reach your potential, become the person you were always meant to be, and achieve what you really want in life. Recovery allows for the conscious creation of your life the way you want it to be, instead of the unconscious obsessive thoughts, compulsive behaviors, and self-centered attitude and outlook on life, which defines active addiction. Treatment works and recovery is possible for everyone.
